Security

There is a lot of thought and action focused today in people trying to obtain security, in their wealth, in their health, in psychology or psychiatry. There are pills given to an innumerable amount of people in this world with the admonitions that this will help them in one way or another. It can numb you, it can make you feel better, it can ease your suffering. The same admonitions are promised by countless banking institutions, to create a better tomorrow for yourself, to invest now for the future, for wealth security. The list goes on, the cosmetics industry admonishes people to use their products so they look younger, they look better, they will somehow improve their life condition by meeting some standard of beauty.

There is are countless ways the world tries to sell humankind that there is an easier way, there is a better way to live and to look. These are some of the lies of the world, that if you use these products your suffering will be less or be cured. If you are healthy enough, if you are wealthy enough, if you are pretty enough life will somehow be so much easier. There a millions upon millions that buy into this lie and deception everyday. I too have believed in these lies at one point or another and I thank God that He has shown me His Truth.

John 16:33 Jesus says, "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world."

It is clear there is trials and tribulations in this world, but Christ has overcome the world. He has overcome any tribulation or trial that you will or have faced. As believers we have security in Him that He overcame this world, and that security is eternal. The trials and tribulations that believers face are to strengthen our faith and walk with Him, to be sanctified, to be transformed more into the image of Christ. We have an eternal destination that God is transforming us to serve in, it is not just for our time here, it is eternal. We are to have a Godward perspective, what is God trying to teach me, what is God doing in my life, or in the lives of others around me? Security will never be found in this world, no matter how hard you work, exercise, or how many pills you take. There is only one way to be secure and grounded and that is rooted in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. God wants to sanctify you, to transform you from the inside out, He is interested in your heart, mind and your soul. He is not interested in your bank account, nor how fast you can run, or if you have wrinkles. He created you and you are wonderfully made by His handiwork, and we must strive to glorify God and to honor Him with our obedience, that is why He made us.
